Tracee Ellis Ross is the daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross. Although she’s known most for shining on her own as an amazing actress. Tracee Ellis Ross has been an inspiration to young girls and women since we were first introduced to her. Back in the early 2000’s we saw her shine as an actress in the hit show Girlfriends.
Her role as Joan Clayton on Girlfriends was nothing short of iconic. She played a lawyer, up for partner at her firm. We’ve seen this role played before by Phylicia Rashad. Claire Huxtable, played by Ms. Rashad was the first image of a successful black woman on television. When Girlfriends first aired we immediately realized that it was a new millennial version of Queen Latifah’s sitcom Living Single. The premise is four young black women living in California. They comically experience their social lives, love, and work.
Joan Clayton and her friends were young, successful, and beautiful black women. Joan represented successful black women of the millennium. She was single and showed a true reflection, of how being single can be difficult for successful black women. Tracee Ellis Ross played the role of Joan with so much class. You could see her humorous personality, and take tips from her fabulous style. Tracee Ellis Ross shows the diversity of black women. She shows the world that we are much more than angry women with an attitude and no education. And did I mention how awesome her style is?
Tracee Ellis Ross has been spotted in New York City giving us a taste of her fashion sense. Her style is also so clean and classic with retro vibes. She rocked her big hair proudly since day one and she’s honestly the queen of the red lip. She brings her sass to every character she plays making her so lovable every time we see her. She’s always true to herself and full of life. She is career, hair, body, and self love goals for so many women. Now she’s mom goals. Everyone loves seeing her play Rainbow Johnson on ABC’s new hit show Blackish.
“Bow” is an intelligent and amazing beautiful doctor. She’s also the best TV mom on television right now. Last year Ms. Ross was nominated for a golden globe. She was in a category black women weren’t in since, Phylicia Rashad for her role as Claire Huxtable.
This year she was nominated again. Of course everyone wanted her on their shows for interviews, so she stayed gracing us with her fashion presence. Being nominated twice for a golden globe was a very huge deal. Her inspirational levels hit new heights. Everyone is in love with the amazement of Tracee Ellis Ross.
The moment she won her Golden Globe was epic. That moment meant so much to the history of black women. We definitely felt like it was a win for us all. A time where you can actually be acknowledged twice and win. It was so encouraging and her speech moved everyone. Tracee Ellis Ross is definitely a leading lady of this year.
