Solange Knowles Promotes Self-Love And Acceptance With New Album

Solange Knowles just released her new self-love album about a month ago. I can honestly say that it’s been on repeat since. This project is one of the most inspiring things I’ve come across this year. It’s the message behind it that draws me in. I love that the whole entire album is about self-love and appreciating who you are and what your roots are.

A Seat at the Table is the name of her new album. It features legends such as Raphael Sadiq, Q-Tip, both of her parents, and more.

You can hear Master P throughout the album dropping jewels. As an entrepreneur who started with nothing and rose his way to the top with an independent music label. He’s giving excellent advice and incredible insight to his life and the lives of our people. He takes his life lessons and explains how it pertains to today’s current events.

This is one of the reasons why Solange has also been inspiring. There has been so many negative things going on this year in America. Unarmed men and women are losing their lives by the hands of police. We all know there were probably better ways to handle those situations. With police brutality and racism at an all time high there are a lot of shut mouths and closed eyes.

Many celebrities with the platform to create something that speaks out to what their fans are feeling are silent. I was actually waiting to see who would do something first. We did get “Formation” from Solange’s big sister Beyoncé. The video along with the super bowl performance did speak volumes, but we needed a little more.

A Seat at the Table gave us exactly what we needed. Solange Knowles actually speaks the words of what so many people are thinking. “the glory is within you”, “Don’t Touch My Hair”, and “I have a lot to be mad about” are just a few messages that are expressed throughout this project. She talks about self-love and coming to a place of acceptance within herself. It’s deeply spiritual and extremely soulful.

Even other celebrities are inspired by Solange’s boldness and fearlessness to love and be herself.

Even Tracee Ellis Ross got bit with inspiration. She recreated Solange’s cover to her new album. This has actually been an ongoing thing for fans of the album along with the hashtag #thankyousolange

She freely expressed her self-love and creative spirit by creating beautiful visuals to display the beauty of people of color. These complement the album in a way that really sets her work apart.

A Seat At The Table recently hit number one in the U.S. This is her first time with a number one album, which makes this whole project even that more inspiring. We all used to know Solange as just Beyonce’s little sister, trying to find her way through the industry as an individual. No one understood her sound or her look, but she pushed through as she continued her journey of finding herself. This album took four years to make and it’s definitely worth the wait.

This is a true testament of someone trying to find their way and finally seeing the light. Finally understanding what makes them unique, nurturing it, and sharing it with the world. In a world where being your weird natural self is made fun of, Solange makes it cool again and I love it.
