Braids And Beads

Finding new hairstyles to compliment your changing style is so fun. It’s a great way to reinvent yourself, or grow closer to your culture. A lot of people don’t realize that most hairstyles are completely cultural. They represent people heritages and ethnicities. That fact is not immediately considered, because most of these styles look so cute on almost anybody. Although they do come from deep roots, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be worn and loved by everyone. That’s one of the most important things about new looks.

What means the most to me is having the ability to represent yourself and being proud of who you are. The look I’ve fallen in love with lately is braids and beads. Yes the old school braids and beads, but the look has been elevated. I remember back in middle school and high school when braids were everything. Brandy always wore braids, and so did Beyoncé and Alicia Keys. Growing up as a little girl these are the young ladies that I looked up to for fashion and hair inspiration. They looked like me and sported looks that were obtainable for me and other little girls like myself.

After Solange released her latest album ‘A Seat at The Table’ braids and beads were, well, back on the table. Not that they ever really left, but let’s be honest, no one was really thinking about the reoccurring trend until she brought it back.

Since then so many other celebrities have tried the style out in their own way. What makes today’s braids and beads different is that they are a little more cultural. Someone must have been doing some research and checking out cultural hairstyles from people of color. I think that’s really cool and I’m all for it. Especially now. Today finding your cultural background and being in tune with it is trending, and it should be. We should all represent our specific heritage with pride.

This has been an idea that’s been played around with for quite some time. Even shows from the late 70’s promoted the idea of being acquainted with their culture. Today young women are inspired by these looks. I’m completely in love with the creative looks ladies are coming up with. Bead and braids is a very versatile and creative hairstyle.

The creativity that women today are putting into this very old and cultural style is amazing. This is definitely a hairstyle that I’m willing to try out this summer. I think it’s a beautiful hairstyle and every woman that wears it looks like a queen. This hairstyle is truly empowering and inspirational. It’s like being a warrior and a queen at the same time.

I’m always going to be a lover of braids. I think they are such a pretty hairstyle, and I always feel strong and powerful when I wear them. What I love about the beads is how well they accent the braids. The shells and different colors and textures are amazing. It’s truly a work of art in my eyes.
