Faith Tuesday: The Best Kind Of Love
Deep sigh. You know the kind of day where there isn’t enough coffee to fix it? The kind of day where you take two steps forward and about six back? Sound familiar? Yep, me too. Today was one of those days.
From my fat pants not fitting, to the overflowing pile of dirty dishes in my sink and everything in between. I know I’m failing today. Failing at having it all together.
When I feel like this, I know I’ve taken my focus off Jesus and put it on me. Suddenly, every insecurity I have begins to throw a dance party in my mind. In the past, I’ve allowed these feelings to make decisions for me. And to be honest, that didn’t end well. How about you?
I’ve learned to change my game plan.
What I’m learning to do is quiet my mind and rest my thoughts on the One who chose me first. Did you catch that? In 1 John 4:19 we’re told, “We love because He first loved us.”
When we grasp what it means to be loved first… it leaves no room for insecurity. We don’t have to earn His love. We can’t earn what is given to us first. Jesus with full disclosure of every bad choice you and I have ever made — still chose to love us first. His perfect love, makes a way for each of us to come to Him. Unhindered by insecurity. I don’t know about you, but I think there is something irresistible about a God who doesn’t shy away from my hot mess. There isn’t a circumstance or scenario that He will run from. He gets right in it with us, extends a hand of grace and mercy, saying, “Come, there is a better way.”
You are fully known, fully loved today.
